This January marks two big birthdays for two amazing women. My Mother and my Aunt. One turned 60, and one turns 70 tomorrow. You wouldn't have guessed those numbers for either of these ladies, though.
My Mom and Aunt Peggy are the least superficial people I know, which is one reason I know they don't care about those numbers. They also kinda love being called Gamma and Nana, more than anything...that's the other reason they could care less about "aging."
Since these are the most important women in my lives, and my role models. I would like to share with you my top 10 things I love about them.
First my aunt:
10. Her favorite store is Lowes.
9. She has "a guy she knows" for any problem that arises.
8. She will drive 50 miles a day to save you from driving 5.
7. She loves animals, sometimes more than people.
6. She loves her church.
5. She works at the food pantry every week, even when she doesn't have "time."
4. She will find you a job, even when you lost the past 3 she already got you.
3. She can remodel your house in her head in under 5 minutes
2. She holds firm in her beliefs
1. She never gives up on people.
My mom:
10. Everything she cooks is excellent.
9. She remembers every one of your "favorites" and randomly gets them for you
8. She really listens.
7. She loves and respects nature, and instilled that love in me. She believes God gave us a beautiful world to take care of.
6. She doesn't care about appearances, she cares about character. She is the least judgmental person I know.
5. She's always up for an adventure.
4. She believes in your ideas.
3. She is the smartest person I know.
2. She always thinks of others first, and doesn't do it for the thank you.
1. She is always positive, and taught me to think that negativity and boredom are a waste of my time.
There is no way to do anything or give anything to people like this in your life to "make up" for all they do for you, not that life is about that anyway. But on these very important birthdays we (their children) wanted to let them know we love and appreciate them. So we organized a surprise party. It wasn't about the gifts, or the food. It was about the people that could be with us to say "Happy Birthday, We love you!"
So we rented out the party room at Mosa, and had a great night. Here are a few bad pictures (low light + camera phone= so so pics), but hopefully you will see a room full of love.
